Text: Hebrews 1:1-3, Amos 3:7-9
Amos 3:8 The lion hath roared, who will not fear? The LORD GOD hath spoken, who can but prophesy? 9 Publish in the palaces at Ashdod, and the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say, Assemble yourselves upon the mountains of Samaria, and behold the great tumults in the midst thereof, and the oppressed in the midst thereof.
Hebrews 1:1-3 1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
IV. God Has Spoken to us by HIS SON!
From Christ to NOW - He speaks through the Revelation of the SON OF GOD - The LORD JESUS CHRIST!
Christ is the APPOINTED HEIR of ALL THINGS and by WHOM ALSO HE MADE THE WORLDS!
Prophets were the mouthpieces of God then; the Church (5-fold ministry) is Today
Spoken unto us by his son - speaks of the incarnation of Christ
The prophetic voice was based on what they "said;" This REVELATION is based upon WHOM CHRIST IS, DOES AND what He says - He is the LOGOS and the RHEMA WORD OF GOD! (John 1:1)
John 1:1-3 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
John 1:14 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
John 1:18 18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.
V. The True Prophetic Voice
God will judge evil; He forewarns those who He is about to judge
There is always just cause when He should judge evil, but love intervenes with His waring
Just as trembling is caused by a lion's roar, so is true prophesying by Jehovah's VOICE
The Prophet is saying "as a "trumpet is blown in the city" which is meant to arouse alarm, so should true prophetic words arise ALARM!
"Should there be evil in a city, and the Lord has not done it?" refers to people claiming that is calamities come, it has nothing to do with the Lord.
Amos says otherwise; calamities come as a punishment for SIN! - Individually and Corporately and NATIONALLY!
The ruin that was at Israel's doorstep was sent by the LORD; the enemy approaching was God's agent!
Every calamity is either sent or allowed by God - mostly because of sin!
Satan is the "prince of the powers of the air," and the "god of this world," but whatever he does can only be done with the permission of the Lord
To Believe otherwise places God in a subservient position to the EVIL ONE, which is FALSE
