Sunday PM Service - Remember Lot's Wife

2/13/2022

Text: Luke 17:31-32, 2 Peter 2:5-8 (KJV), Genesis 19:26 (KJV), 1 Timothy 4:1-4 (KJV), 2 Timothy 3:1-8 (KJV), Hebrews 3:13, Matthew 24:12

Luke 17:31-32

31 In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back.

32 Remember Lot's wife.

  1. Jesus warned his disciples of the signs of the end prior to his coming

  2. There are 2 comings of Jesus - One for the church, one with the church

  3. These warnings in Luke refer in context to his physical second coming but hold truth for times prior to the rapture

  4. The world at the time of the second coming will be as indifferent and corrupt as in the days of Noah and Lot

  5. Jesus said: A. They did eat B. They drank C. They married wives D. They were given in marriage business as usual - the world did not expect Noah's prediction to come to pass regarding the Flood (Genesis 6:3) Noah was a preacher of righteousness and by faith built the ark (Hebrews 11:7) E. Warned of God of things not seen (Judgement) F. Moved with FEAR G. Prepared an ark to the saving of his house H. By which he condemned the world I. Became an heir of righteousness which is by faith J. NOAH HAD FAITH IN THE COMING REDEEMER! (CROSS)

  6. Up to the very moment it started raining they laughed even when he and family entered the ark

  7. Their negative response did NOT alter the judgement that was to come

2 Peter 2:5-8 (KJV)

5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;

6 And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;

7 And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:

8 (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)

The Days of Lot

  1. They did same thing in Sodom and Gomorrah

  2. The judgement did not come until the righteous lot had ben taken out (Noah and Lot removed from the judgement) The church will be too!

  3. The tremendous judgement of Revelation 6-19 will not occur UNTIL the church is taken out of the way

  4. Jesus is referring to his PHYSICAL second coming in Verses 30-31

  5. Refers in context to the physical second coming and the great battle of Armageddon but the warnings are the same for the rapture

  6. Then Jesus utters a solemn warning to his chosen and to the church of this hour - REMEMBER LOT'S WIFE! (Genesis 9:26)

  7. She looked back at Sodom when God warned Lot to NOT look back to Sodom!

Genesis 19:26 (KJV)

26 But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

  1. She gave heed to the seducing spirits of Sodom

  2. Her heart was in Sodom not with God

  3. The love of the world was greater than the love of God

  4. She became intoxicated, spell bound by Sodom's allures

  5. Demonic influence caused her to doubt God, People fall away for the same reasons (Doctrines of Devils, seducing spirits, hardness of heart, deceitfulness of Sin, love of the world)

  6. Forsake the word of God for fables

  7. Stop loving truth, fall into doctrinal error

  8. Stop having faith in Cross

  9. Reject Christ and the Cross

  10. Apostatize

1 Timothy 4:1-4 (KJV)

1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter ties some shall depart from the faith giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth

4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received thanksgiving:

2 Timothy 3:1-8 (KJV)

1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

4 Traitors, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.

Hebrews 3:13

13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called to day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

Matthew 24:12

12 And because iniquity shall abound the love of many will wax cold
