Sunday AM Service - Lest He Walk Naked And They See His Shame
3/13/2022
Text: Genesis 2:25, Genesis 3:7-11; Revelation 16:15
Genesis 2:25 And they were both naked the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
Genesis 3:7-11 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the gard And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself. And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
Revelation 16:13-15 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty. Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.
I. Man Outside Of Christ Stands Naked Before God - Genesis 3:7-11
The only thing that stands between and eternal Hell is the Cross of Christ
Religious Idolatry leaves us spiritually orphaned!
Fallen Man has been spiritually naked before God ever since the fall.
This nakedness leaves man open and naked to the judgement of God - eternally.
The first time the word "naked" is found in scripture is when Adam and Eve were naked but NOT ASHAMED.
They were enclothed in God's LIGHT - And when Moses saw that the people were naked;
Where there is no sin, there is no shame.
The term "naked" comes from Hebrew word para ' (HSN - <H6544>), "to loosen; expose; uncover" (2 Chr. 28:19). It is also translated "bare" (Lev. 13:45); "avenging" (Judg. 5:2); "avoid" (Prov. 4:15); "nought" (Prov. 1:25); "perish" (Prov. 29:18); "refuse" (Prov. 8:33); "refuseth" (Prov. 13:18; 15:32); and "uncover" (lev. 10:6; 21:10; Num. 5:18).
The term "bare" has reference to the LEPER of the Old Covenant who was to shave his head BAREN to show he was open to the judgement of God.
God cannot abide sin and sin must be judged; He took the judgement of sin upon Himself at the Cross for all who believe.
If man refuses this remedy, he will remain NAKED!
The result of his nakedness are threefold: A. Guilt B. Fear C. Hiding
Leviticus 13:45 (KJV)
45 And the leper in whom the plague is, his clothes shall be rent, and his head bare, and he shall put a covering upon his upper lip, and shall cry, Unclean, unclean.
Guilt
Adam and Eve hid themselves from God - not out of humility or modesty, but of GUILT
Guilt is a horrible thing to the unredeemed and unrepentant - NONE can live without this terrible malady
It leads to suicides, nervous breakdowns, emotional disturbances
Guilt came by way of the Fall into the physical, mental and spiritual ake up of all mankind
It cannot be removed except coming to the Cross and the Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ!
Guilt blonds the Reason of Man making him hide from God!
Jesus Christ removes that nakedness and GUILT! (Romans 8:1)
Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation (GUILT) to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit
Hiding
because of their Guilt they HID from God! They were naked to the judgement of God and tried to hide himself from God
Man cannot Hide from God no matter how hard he tries
The Lord called to Adam and He has been calling to untold millions of others ever since
The first question in the bible is "where are you?" cp. To the first question in the New Testament is "Where is He?" (Matthew 2:2)
God seeks the sinner in the Garden; the sinner seeks God in the pursuit of Christ
God's seeking Adam was His GRACE; had God not called to Adam, Adam would have forever been lost
God already knew where Adam/Eve were, He wanted them to know that as well; He ask the same of us! "WHERE ARE YOU?"
Before sin, Adam welcomed the presence of God; now, God's presence brings fear and dread.
Unless God calls the sinner, the sinner will forever FLEE from God's presence!
FEAR
The voice of God was once welcomed, not it is feared
The first thing Adam says in this discourse is "I was afraid"
God's words were His Divine law to Adam's CONSCIENCE!
This type fear leads man AWAY from God and as One who is to be avoided
Instead of Adam confessing his sin, HE HID and make FIG LEAVES
Sin is the issue with ALL HUMANITY's PROBLEMS - ALL
We take the sin issue everywhere else but God.
We take it to the Psychologist, other people, Self -Help programs, conference Etc.
When one sins, the body of Christ needs to restore, not condemn because we are ALL of Adam's stock!
"Who told you you were naked?" - Millions deny they are naked; Adam hid, but as sin has grown worse modern man brazenly confronts God with his own evil.
THE FIG LEAVES
The fig leaves represent the difference between the true church and the apostate church
The former is founded upon the face of a person being CLOTHED, and of course with the ROBE OF RIGHTESOUNESS
The latter upon the fact of man being NAKED.
The former is clothed with Christ; the latter is naked with religion and works
The former is working BECAUSE of His salvation; the latter works FOR HIS Salvation!
There is no covering for man except the BLOOD OF JESUS
Adam couldn't cover his backside with the fig leaves and denominational and apostolic "coverings" cannot cover yours or mine either
BLAME
Genesis 3:12
Adam blames God by blaming Eve "That You Gave Me"
Eve Blames The Serpent
ALL ARE JUDGED
Revelation 16:13-15 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
